Roads
Highway 123
exits off M-28 south of Newberry in Luce County and enters Chippewa
County in the Tahquamenon Falls State Park. A great piece of
blacktop that will wind you through the north woods past one the
largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. (Top Ten Road)
Whitefish Point
Road takes you north from
Paradise Michigan to Whitefish Point which is home to the Whitefish
Point Light. This can be a busy road during the summer, but when
its not it makes for a fun ride.
Curley Lewis
Memorial Highway follows the Lake Superior Lakeshore from
just south of Paradise, Michigan to Brimley Michigan. It tracks
the lakeshore many times hidden by tunnels of Maple trees. You
find the Point Iroquois Lighthouse and the Bay Mills Casino with its
many restaurants along the route. (Top Ten Road)
Highway 134
starts in Mackinac County but
enters Chippewa County just east of Cedarville as it continues its way
to De Tour Village. Board your bike on the car ferry and make
the boat trip across the De Tour Passage to Drummond Island.
From there ride 134 across the island until you run out of pavement.
Decent road with both new and older pavement. Early on watch for
gravel in the corners, but after that it gets better.
(Top Ten Road)
H-40
is one of those off the screen roads
that local riders will choose when they've got some time and want to
get off the beaten path. Makes for a nice change of pace from
US-2 and M-28.
