Seeing it all again from my bike is like seeing it for the first time.

Walkway to lower Bond Falls

As you walk down the boardwalk, you're treated to a great look at the falls through the trees.  I must admit that the new boardwalk does provide for nice access to the lower falls.  At the base of the falls, the walkway wraps around the base of the falls bridging the river.   Steps provide access down to the waters edge which I thought was good thinking.  What little kid doesn't like to put his or her fingers in the water.

Even with all these improvement, Pat and I still found ourselves alone admiring the falls.  Then again it was the Friday before Memorial Day so maybe tomorrow the place would be filled with people.  I don't know how many times I've been to Bond Falls, but I've never been sorry I stopped.  After taking a few pictures, we climbed back on the bike and rode up to the Upper Falls.  I was  looking forward to my customary ice cream cone at the Bone Falls Outpost Store.

I was really disappointed to find the store hadn't opened up yet for the year.  Bummed out, we continued on east on Bond Falls Road.  As we rode past the lake, I pulled off to ride through a newly developed beach and recreational area.  Again, not a soul to be seen anywhere although it looked liked the area was ready for visitors.  I believe there is a still a campground in the area, but I'm not sure where.  Bond Falls is one great area to ride during the Fall color season.  The colors will knock your socks off!

Continuing on Bond Falls road eventually brought us up to Highway M-28.  From there we turned left for short ride west to Agate Falls.   Not far, we saw the roadside sign on our left indicating a Agate Falls Road Side Park.   From the parking lot we walked under the bridge which spans the Ontonagon River and followed a paved path to the falls.

Agate Falls is not one my favorite falls mainly because you can't get an up close good look at them.  However if you're going to be riding down M-28, they're certainly worth stopping to see.  The park also offers some Yooper style toilet facilities. Not always the best, but far better than a tree.    If you get a chance, take a hike up the side hill to the old railroad tressel bridge that spans the Ontonagon River.  You'll treat yourself to a great view of the river.  On the falls side of M-28 is a small store where you can find an assortment of trinkets and tourist items.
