Listed below are Upper Michigan Events that I thought would be of interest to bikers.  While there aren't all that many motorcycle events held in Upper Michigan each year, the number is growing.   However there are a number of festivals, racing events and music happenings taking place around the Upper Peninsula that might interest you.

MAY

Blues For Life- Ride For a Cure      May 10, 2008
Fund raiser for American Cancer Society open to all riders. Start out the day with the Blessing of the Bikes at Bald Eagle Harley Davidson at 11:00 AM. After that, sign up to take a couple hour ride through the central Upper Peninsula on a great Poker Run. $25.00 per person will get you; entry into the poker run, a commemorative T-shirt, live music by 3 great blues bands and some good ol' Cajun food from Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery. Lilly's and Liger's Ladies Only Ride.   May 17,  2008.
The sign up for the ride will start at 9:00 o'clock am at the corner of Hwy 64 and State Hwy 180, at the BP gas station, in Marinette WI.  There will be a bond-fire, party is over at midnight, or later.

Yooper Motorcycle Show, ATV Fun Run, Swap Meet & Truck Mud Run
 May 24-26, 2008
This first annual Yooper Motorcycle Show will be an all-make, all-model motorcycle show with builders and vendors from around the State.  Join the "Parade of Bikes" as the parade will follow the waters edge thru beautiful downtown St. Ignace.
 Featured guests Ron Finch, winner of the Discovery Channel Biker Build Off will be there. Superior Chapter HOG Swap Meet - May 31, 2008

Swap Meet will be held at the Marquette, Michigan Bald Eagle Harley Davidson parking lot on Saturday, May 31.  The 20X20 spot will be $20.00.  Remember, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.”  Each person will handle their own sales.  Bring your items, price, and sell for yourself.  Looking for some good deals? JUNE

Blessing of the Bikes – June 6 & 7, 2008
Detour Village’s Mainsail Restaurant and Saloon plays host to the Eastern Upper Peninsula Blessing of the Bikes.  There will be bands Friday and Saturday night the beer tent which will be set up just outside the Mainsail Bar and Restaurant.   The event draws as many as a thousand bikers every year. Championship 40th Annual U.P. Rodeo - June 7 & 8, 2008
The U.P. Pro Rodeo is within the Great Lakes Prorodeo Circuit which consists of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.  Come to Iron River, Michigan and enjoy a great rodeo. Website

Bridge Fest 2008 - June 13, 14, 15  2008
Come enjoy the "birthday" of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, which provides a vital link between the communities of Houghton and Hancock & Houghton.  The event includes shows, concerts, contests, boat tours, sporting events, and the annual Bridge Fest parade and fireworks display. Bridge Fest is held in conjunction with the Houghton Rotary Seafood Fest, which provides a variety of delicious foods including live lobster!   Website

36th Annual BMW RA International Rally - June 19 -22, 2008
BMW  “RA” will hold the International Rally “n da UP” and more specifically, the “Copper Country” in Houghton, Michigan. Houghton.  Touching on four of the five Great Lakes, the two land areas of Michigan give the state a shoreline of 3,288 miles, second in length only to Alaska, which creates some great riding opportunities.  Website

4th Annual UP Hog Wild Cook Off - July 11-12, 2008
When I first heard about this event my first thought was it was a wild Harley get together.  Not that it couldn't be right?   I have been told they've marked off some of the best parking for "motorcycles only".  Anyway riders might want to check out this event in Kingsford this summer.  Looks like some great chow, good music and a fun time.  Website

Keweenaw Star Portage Lake Blues Cruise - July 18, 2008

Ride in Bike Show (Charity Ride) - July19, 2008
In it's 22nd year of raising money for the Bay Cliff Health Camp, this ride is open to all bikes. It's an all day event at the American Legion in Little Lake, MI (30 mile south of Marquette) filled with games, live music, vendors, camping, great food and a biker’s ball for all you night owls. 5th Annual Veterans Motorcycle Rally -  July 17-19, 2008

Find the Pig and Poker Run - July 26, 2008
This is a progressive
two month long poker run/scavenger hunt ends on July 26th with a great party.  Open to all bikes, the poker run takes riders throughout the U.P. with 20 different stops and several scavenger hunt items that you will need to find. Sign up date is May 31, 2008 from 9am to 3pm at the swap meet at Bald Eagle Harley Davidson in Marquette. Ending date is July 26, 2008 at Boot Lake Bar (5 miles south of Shingleton) with a great party to follow. We will have a pig roast, out door live music, camping, and lots of prizes.
